The Nairobi to Nanyuki Safari train is a popular mode of transportation for travelers and locals in Kenya. The train route covers a distance of approximately 200 kilometers and passes through some of Kenya’s most beautiful landscapes.

Currently, two trains operate between Nairobi and Nanyuki and are managed by the Kenya Railways Corporation. The Train departs from Nairobi Central Railway Station and arrives at Nanyuki Station.

The train journey takes about seven hours, and first-class and second-class seating options are available. First-class compartments are more comfortable and spacious, while second-class seats are more affordable.

To book your tickets, visit the Nairobi Central Railway Station ticket office in person or buy onboard the Train. However, booking your tickets in advance or arriving at the train station early is advisable – especially during peak travel seasons, as the Train can fill up quickly.

Kenya Railways encourages passengers to check in at least one hour before departure.

The Nanyuki Safari Train usually operates on Tuesdays and Fridays and returns from Nanyuki on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The Train stops in Makadara, Dandora, Mwiki, Githurai, Kahawa West, Ruiru, Thika, Mitubiri, Makuyu, Maragua, Murang’a, Sagana, Karatina, Kiganjo and Naromoru.
